Ex-USDA secretary Glickman joins lobbying firm

Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman has joined Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer and
Feld LLP, a major lobbying and international law firm, as a partner in the
public law and policy practice group in Washington, the firm announced
Thursday.

The firm said Glickman will advise clients on a wide range of matters,
including food and food safety, health and biotechnology, with special
emphasis on international trade.

"Admired by Republicans and Democrats alike, he is a splendid addition to
our practice," said Robert Strauss, a founding partner of the firm.

Glickman will also return periodically to his home state of Kansas as a
senior fellow in American politics and public policy at Wichita State
University.

Glickman served as agriculture secretary from March 1995 until January 2001.
